What the SEC discussed in Monday's super long meeting.

On Monday, the SEC discussed all of the plans of playing football this fall. One option as far as the season goes, is a 10-game schedule with 8 conference games and 2 non-conference games. This is just one of the many possible options that were discussed. There were a few other options though, that are said to be strong possibilities. One is an eight game conference-only schedule, and the other is a 9 or 10-game plan that would leave a spot for a game against a Power 5 conference team(probably a rival from another conference). The SEC has already lost their match-ups with Pac-12 teams after the Pac-12 announced it would go to a conference only schedule, and same with the BIG 10. The league is hoping to save it's Power 5 conference games that are left, especially the rivalry games with certain teams with the SEC. An 8-game conference-only schedule would probably be the best choice because of the flexibility and it's a lesser chance of a team backing out of a game because of a positive test, but it depends who the teams are and if there is a bad outbreak where they are. A 10-game schedule is less likely to gain support because it's more strict than a 8 game conference-only schedule because you would have to add 2 more teams from the other division which could cause issues with travel or other things. A 9-game schedule is getting a pushback from league members, one SEC AD told Sports Illustrated. Sports Illustrated says the more preferred plans are 9 or 10-game schedule with 1 or 2 non-conference games. But the issues with these have to do with the testing differences with every conference. The NCAA and Power 5 conferences are working on a minimum testing idea that is expected to be released next week, SEC officials told Sports Illustrated. They say in the SEC, a conference-only schedule "is certainly higher in the mix from the tone in the room", one high-ranking official told Sports Illustrated. On the other hand, many SEC leaders are against a spring season, saying "it's last resort" and "it's not going to work." Anyway, the SEC will make a final decision on what they're doing, in the end of July. Info via Sports Illustrated.

Honestly I think it would be pretty damn cool for them to play conference only but turn the normal conference championship game into a championship tourney. Four or six teams, there's no other year we could really do it. If we're going to have an asterisk season might as well have fun with it.
