The Trojans barely escaped week one and two with wins as in week one they narrowly defeated Arizona State, 28-27 and then the following week defeated Arizona 34-30. However, the last two weeks the Trojans showed that they could score and hold their opponents to less than 20 points as they defeated Utah in week three 33-17 and then last night routed Washington State 33-18 behind a great performance from Kedon Slovis.
Slovis completed 24 of his 29 attempts with 271 yards and five touchdown performance as helped lead the Trojans to a 4-0 record as they prepare to battle with their bitter rival for the season finale against UCLA.
For USC to stay hot and finish the season with a perfect record, thanks to a COVID impacted short season, the Trojans will need to receive another big performance from Slovis and his receiving core. Although USC could finish 5-0, several USC fans are still wanting their head coach Clay Helton to be relieved of his duties at the end of the season.
Is it over for Helton in SoCal, or does he get one more full year with the Trojans? Only time will tell.
