One of the nation’s top offensive lineman in 2019, Dontae Lucas, announced his Top 8 schools. The following schools made the cut for Lucas: Florida State, Alabama, Miami, Oregon, Florida, South Carolina, Louisville, and Missouri. Judging by this list, it seems likely that Dontae will wind up playing in the SEC or ACC. Although Oregon made the cut, it is very rare for a kid to end up so far from home.

Lucas is absolutely massive as he stands at about 6’3″ and around 320 pounds. His size alone is almost enough to warrant his 4-star rating and Top 10 OG ranking. However, it isn’t just his size that is impressive. Lucas is quite nimble for an athlete that weighs in over 300 pounds. This will allow him to pull, if he is asked to do so at the guard position, and push through blocks. All of this combined with his “mean streak” makes him quite the hot commodity.
Dontae plays for the powerhouse of all powerhouse’s in high school football: IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. This allows him to practice with some of the best recruits in the nation every single day. If the Florida product continues to hone is craft, it will be scary for all opposing defenders. Also, Dontae is able to showcase his skills with some game film against tough Florida competition. So, where will this beast end up playing his college ball you ask? Well, we predict that this comes down to the three home-state schools: Florida State, Miami, and Florida. While it may seem that they all have a legitimate shot at this massive recruit, it seems the Noles have the best shot as of right now. FSU’s tight ends coach, Telly Lockette, is listed as Lucas’ primary recruiter, and he has done an excellent job in building a relationship with the young man. However, Miami has also put themselves right in the thick of things as well. Dontae has visited Coral Gables more than any other campus, which can only be a good sign for the Hurricanes. We can’t wait to see how this recruitment pans out. Stay tuned!
